The Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA) is the statewide, not-for-profit, professional association serving Colorado CPAs and the public for over 100 years. Founded in 1904, the CSCPA comprises over 8,500 members who live and work in Colorado, as well as across the globe.
Members are CPAs in public practice, industry, education, and government; non-CPAs on the professional staff of a Colorado CPA or CPA firm; Colorado accounting faculty; accounting professionals employed in industry; and students enrolled in a qualified accounting program at a Colorado college or university.
CPAs in public practice may provide tax planning and preparation services, accounting and auditing services, business advisory and consulting services, personal financial planning services, and specialized services in areas such as litigation support and business valuation. A CPA in industry may be the CFO, controller, COO, vice president of finance, or even CEO of a company, among other positions. CPAs also work for local and state governmental agencies and teach accounting at colleges and universities across Colorado.
CPAs must meet stringent continuing education requirements to keep their Colorado CPA certificates active and to retain their CSCPA membership. The CSCPA offers over 300 continuing professional education (CPE) classes to assist them in fulfilling these requirements. Developed by CPAs for CPAs, CSCPA CPE programs consistently rate 4+ on a 5-point scale. In addition, the CSCPA offers on-site programs tailored to the firm’s, company’s, or organization’s needs. Webcasts and online courses allow participants to take courses when convenient – and they are available to CSCPA members and non-members (for a higher additional fee).
