There are many opportunities to get involved with the CSCPA – to Connect & Succeed. The following mission critical committees, task forces, and forums are always seeking new volunteers. In addition, the Member Forums offer the opportunity for you to connect with your peers who have similar interests, hear a variety of speakers, and share resources. The mission of the CFO Executive Roundtable is to bring accounting and finance leaders of all industries together for knowledge, networking, and of course FUN. The group meets the fourth Friday of the month. Morning meetings include a networking continental breakfast, informational speakers, general discussion, and Q&A. CFO Executive Roundtable

The forum plans and holds events to assist members in maintaining and expanding their professional competence in federal taxation. It sponsors the annual liaison meeting with the Internal Revenue Service.

The CSCPA hosts the Colorado Chapter of Accounting Administrators Association (AAA) for a monthly meeting, held the third Wednesday of every month. The meetings are held over the lunch hour and feature either a speaker or an open roundtable for idea sharing. This forum provides guidance on current implementation issues and legislative matters; maintains liaison with the governmental financial community and practitioners; responds to exposure drafts from GASB, AICPA, and OMB; works on governmental standards overload; and on a confidential basis, reviews governmental audit reports voluntarily submitted by members for educational review.

This committee plans and implements activities, events, and resources for younger CSCPA members and supports the development of future CSCPA leaders. The committee identifies opportunities for professional, educational, and social interaction among new professionals.

This group provides a forum for CSCPA members in the south metro Denver area to maintain and expand their professional competence in tax issues and maintains relationships with the appropriate state and local taxing authorities. The Tax Study Group meets monthly for lunch. Guest speakers from the IRS, the Colorado Department of Revenue, and other entities are often invited to attend.

This committee focuses on developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives for the CSCPA and advises the Board of Directors on future professional, organizational, structure, and governance issues. Members are appointed based on their involvement with the CSCPA, their expertise in specific professional areas, and their commitment to creating a vibrant future for the CPA profession.

This committee focuses on state regulation of the accounting profession and maintains liaison with the Colorado State Board of Accountancy, monitors legislative and regulatory issues, and proposes legislative and regulatory changes.

The board administers the AICPA Peer Review program in Colorado and focuses on quality performance in accounting and auditing engagements and works to reduce or eliminate substandard performance through educational and remedial means.

The board considers ethics matters received from members and others, participates with the AICPA in the Joint Ethics Enforcement Program to maintain high ethical standards, and assists in developing, interpreting, publicizing, and enforcing the Code of Professional Conduct.

This forum works to improve awareness of the issues pertaining to publicly held companies and the quality of reporting and compliance with SEC and PCAOB matters including the effects of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
