West Central Chapter Lunch and Conversation with the COCPA Chair
The Future Ready CPA: Stand Up and Be Proud
Ben Hrouda, CPA, CGMA
Join Ben for a thought-provoking conversation on being an accounting professional in today’s rapidly changing environment; what it may require in the future; current issues affecting the CPA profession; continuing and new initiatives on the local, national, and global front; and opportunities for the COCPA to support you. Bring your perspective and your questions.
A University of Denver (DU) graduate with his M.A. and B.S. in Accountancy, Ben brings rich and varied experience to the Chair position: Big Four public accounting experience (Ernst & Young LLP), teaching experience (DU adjunct faculty), real estate development experience (formerly with several organizations including Sage Hospitality and now with his own company), and COCPA leadership experience (former Young Professionals Committee chair, Board of Directors member and Treasurer, Budget Committee member, and Investment Committee member).
Flywheel Capital, which Ben co-founded, focuses on commercial real estate investments where it can add value to the deal and find creative solutions. The company prides itself on finding “diamonds in the rough” – properties or land that are underutilized and underinvested with the potential to become exceptional, authentic additions to the community.
Ben believes in the importance of clearly communicating how CPAs are relevant in today’s environment and the value CPAs provide. “I hope we can be proud of our accomplishments, our service, our relevance, and why the profession remains important. That’s why I’ve chosen ‘Stand Up and Be Proud’ as my theme for this year.”
To understand the issues and initiatives the CPA profession is addressing and gain insights into what challenges the profession must consider to be successful in the future.
