Casey’s career journey to becoming a CPA wasn’t exactly the textbook route most accountants take right after college. Frankly, the main reason he decided to pursue an accounting degree is because he wanted to be financially literate as this topic was not necessarily a part of any education curriculum growing up.
He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in December 2011 with a BS in Accounting and soon began his first job and busy season in January 2012. Casey had zero ambitions to become a CPA, but after a few busy seasons his perspective shifted in a major way.
Casey has held positions as a tax preparer, bookkeeper, small business consultant/therapist, accounting emergency technician, senior auditor, board member and is now currently a solutions consultant for Xero, a New Zealand based, global cloud accounting platform. Casey has a passion for accounting technology, and making other bookkeepers, accountants and CPAs workflows and tech stacks more efficient and fun!
