Sales and use taxes are often a company’s biggest tax problem, particularly in Colorado. In this class we will begin with the basics and build on them until we are tackling some of the most troublesome sales tax issues confronting your business or clients.
In this four-hour presentation, Bruce Nelson, M.A., CPA, will provide an introduction and deep dive into sales and use tax. Using concrete examples, Bruce will explain both the theory and practice that are driving today’s current sales/use tax controversies and developments. It is impossible to know the sales/use tax laws of 45 states and the 71 home-rule Colorado cities, so the emphasis will be on what we can know and, most importantly, the skills necessary to approach and address the sales and use tax issues with which you are confronted. An accompanying manual will include the material provided in class plus additional coverage that will serve as a springboard for your further research.
Anyone in either public practice or industry who is responsible for sales and use tax compliance and planning.
